As a Shepherds College student, you'll live in an environment that is designed to promote your emotional, spiritual, and intellectual growth. Each day, you will grow toward independence in many areas of your life. Aside from attending classes, the Residential Life program at Shepherds College provides students with opportunities to build lasting friendships, explore the community, and serve others. Residential Life goes way beyond homework and house cleaning. Students enjoy activities both during the week and on weekends that allow them to form relationships with each other and with members of their community.
Once a week, you'll write out a menu for what you want to cook and eat. Then you'll prepare a shopping list using your menu, and travel to Wal-Mart to purchase the items on the list. Back at your apartment, you'll have the job of loading and unloading the cart and putting groceries away. After you have all the ingredients, you'll be able to put your class skills to work by making your own meals. On Thursdays, you'll prepare a meal in Cooking Class and eat together in the Shepherds College kitchen.
Each month, students and clients in the Catalyst program at Shepherds participate in Activity Night. You'll play games together and enjoy snacks while getting to know each other better.
As a student, you can develop an understanding of service by doing community projects together. You may help serve in the local churches, volunteer in AWANAS or help out at a Chamber of Commerce event. There are always many opportunities to serve on campus too!
Students here grow spiritually. You can attend a local church with your friends, where you'll hear God's Word and be encouraged to share the love of Christ to others. Weekly, female students have a Bible study especially designed for young women. The male students study separately with a male Bible study leader. On Wednesdays, we all gather for Group Bible Study where we study the Word together. You'll learn that you have a lot of responsibility as young men and women and God wants to do amazing things through you.
Students have the opportunity to participate in the Special Olympics program. You can join teams like bowling or basketball which allows you to stay healthy and fit and also to minister and show God's love to people all over Wisconsin at games. Besides, it's also a lot of fun!
Other kinds of activities may include taking field trips to see movies, gardens, historical sites, big companies and even water parks! New activities get introduced to students all the time, so there is never a dull moment!
